Atlas of Emotions

It is rightly said, journey to thousand miles begins with the first step. In my case, professional journey didn’t quite begin till I quit. I happened to graduate from an elite business school during Y2K. Now, for those who are in their teens or recently completed their studies, Y2K is referred to period when the Internet bubble crashed globally. Hence, there were not many job openings for someone like me who specialized in IT [Information Technology] with hope of making it big in the new economy. After couple of small stints in small organisations, family recommended to take a break & pay attention to mental & physical health. So, a young girl of 23 years, joined a Yoga program which was blessing in disguise, infusing fresh energy & outlook. Soon after, I got my 1st break as a business consultant to an Internet start-up! The organization grew from a small team to over 50 members, in two locations within a span of 18 months ~ it was time for me to move on.

Armed with tremendous knowledge & hands on experience in the Business Outsourcing industry, my 2nd phase of growth began. All this wouldn’t have been possible with the support of my parents, who believed & stood by me through the business cycles. Their initial investment in my garage-office, was enough to strengthen my resolve to keep working harder & smarter. Now, me and my team were managing multiple clients across the globe. Some moons later, an investor approached us & I moved to a plush office in the heart of the Capital of India. Bigger team, and expanded business came with its own challenges – unexpectedly as within a year we had to consolidate with global financial meltdown hitting hard.

Resilience. 3rd phase after a decade. We continued to be engaged & focused on upskilling & personal growth. Some dark moons later, things started to look up. Pivoting happened. From a business process outsourcing organization we become a customer engagement driven business.

I learnt some very valuable life lessons
  • Honor the trust
  • Keep the integrity intact
  • Be mindful
  • Appreciate your health
